Elaine Broadbent Curtis died peacefully at home December 5, 1991 in Salt Lake City, Utah.

She was born June 21, 1911 in Heber City, Utah to Sylvester and M. Josephine Murdock Broadbent. She married A. Ray Curtis in the Salt Lake LDS Temple June 27, 1934.

Elaine is survived by four daughters and one son, Mrs. Vaughn (Pat) Belnap; Mrs. Stan (Carol) Delbridge, Kaysville; Mrs. Michael (Mary) Gourley; Thomas R. Curtis (Suzanne); Mrs. Michael (Jody) Bailey, Mesa, Ariz.; 25 grandchildren; 20 great-grandchildren; four brothers and two sisters, Dr. L. Verl; Benn E., J.R., Dr. Reed M. Broadbent, Mrs. J.L. (Cora) McCarrey, and Mrs. Terry (Jayne) Malan.

She is preceded in death by her husband, and brothers, Cloyd, Thomas, and Clay Broadbent.

She graduated from LDS High School and the University of Utah. She was active in civic and educational associations. She particularly enjoyed her service as a volunteer at LDS Hospital.

She has been active in ward and stake auxiliaries in Highland, Cottonwood, Holladay and Holladay South Stakes. Among her many callings, she served as both ward and stake Relief Society president. She served in the Southwest British Mission from 1962 to 1965, where her husband presided. She served on the General Board of the Relief Society from 1965 to 1976. She was matron of the Salt Lake Temple for five years, where her husband served as temple president. Her life personified the Relief Society motto--"Charity Never Faileth."

Elaine will be deeply missed by her family and many whose lives have been touched by this noble lady.

Funeral services will be held Monday, Dec. 9, 1991, at 12 noon, at the Holladay South Stake Center, 4917 Viewmont Street. Friends may call Sunday from 6-8 p.m. at the MacKay Cottonwood Mortuary, 4670 South Highland Drive, and one hour prior to services at the church.

Interment, Wasatch Lawn. Funeral directors, MacKay Cottonwood Mortuary.
