Funeral services for Jay Bassett Asay, 23, of Butte, Mont. were held Thursday, Mar. 14, at 2:30 p.m. in the Haskell Mortuary with Bishop Harris Asay officiating. Services had been held in Butte Tuesday, Mar. 12.

A trio composed of Iris Bassett, Ruth Bischoff and Beth Adams, sang "I Walked Today Where Jesus Walked" and "Beyond the Sunset" as special musical numbers.

Burial was in the Lovell cemetery with Haskell Funeral Home in charge of arrangements. Military rites were conducted at the cemetery.

Pall bearers were Larry Stephonie and Stan McKnight of Butte, Charles Winkley of Livingston, Curt Walden of Clyde Park, Richard Abbott of Lovell and Glen Asay of Boyd, Mont.

Mr. Asay was killed instantly in a car accident near Melrose, Mont. Saturday, Mar 9, at 11:30 p.m.

He was born Sept. 11, 1939 at Lovell, the son of Virl Asay of LaBarge and Mrs. Lois Brothers of Clyde Park, Mont. Jay attended the Butte schools and served in the Army from 1958 to 1961. He was a member of the LDS church. He was employed at the Concentrator at Butte at the time of his death.

Survivors include his parents; and six sisters, Sally Mueller and Josephine McKnight of Butte, Loretta Winkley of Livingston and Sharon, Karen and Marjie Asay of Clyde Part.
