Estella Legene McArthur Asay was the 9th child of 14 children born to Jacob and Estella Tippets McArthur on June 15, 1907, in Lovell, Wyoming. She completed 12 years of schooling and in April of 1925 married her childhood sweetheart, Joseph Asay.

After briefly residing in Delta, Utah, they returned to make their permanent home in Lovell. In July of 1930, they were sealed for time and all eternity in the Logan LDS Temple, and then later were able to serve a mission together in the Dallas, Texas mission.

Legene was an active, faithful member of the LDS Church serving in many positions throughout her lifetime, touching the hearts of many lives. Being a loving, dedicated wife, mother, and grandmother, she enjoyed spending time with her family, especially the grandchildren. She was an avid gardener and loved flowers. She also enjoyed listening to good music, sewing, knitting, painting, and taking trips.

She was preceded in death by her beloved Joe of 69 years, her parents, 12 brothers and sisters and 1 granddaughter.

She is survived by all six of her children, LeNoir of Long Beach, CA, Robert of Lovell, WY, Douglas and Dorothy of Bountiful, UT, Roger of Lovell, WY, Calvin and Diane Jewell of Lovell, WY, and Larry and Myra Sessions of Gillette, WY; one older sister, Minnette Earl of Lovell; 3 sister-in-laws, Carmen McArthur and Delsa Rounds both of Lovell, and Elsie Oberg of Genola, UT, whom she loved as her own sisters; 1 brother-in-law, John Bernett of Bountiful, UT; 19 grandchildren, 43 great-grandchildren and 1 great-great grandchildren and expecting another in March of 1997.

We dearly loved this special lady and will especially miss her and her sweet spirit.

Funeral services will be held on Saturday, February 1, 1997 at 11:00 a.m. at the Lovell LDS Stake Center. Bishop Ottis Graves will be conducting. Burial will be in the Lovell Cemetery. Haskell Funeral Home of Lovell is in charge of arrangements.
