My grandaunt.

Daughter of Emory Wilson Saunders and Charlotte Alice Wilcoxon.

Wife of Franklin Curtis Lynch.

Mother of Arthur Davidson Lynch.

Leota was a lightkeeper on the Ohio River who lit the light by hand every night for 15 years. The shoreline was rocky, and her light gave the boats safe passage around the bend in the river. Her 15 years of faithful service was recognized by the Coast Guard on July 31, 1970.

I remember my great aunt "Lee" as a lovely white-haired lady with gold rimmed spectacles who lived on the riverbank in a two story white house with her cats, a bulldog, Uncle Frankie and his cousin Bud. To this day, I'm not sure which of them she liked best, but I do know that the bulldog took possession of the rocking chair.
