Ingeborg (Belle) Youngern was born September 21, 1876, in Lisbon Township, Yellow Medicine County, Minnesota, the daughter of Ingebret and Maria (Johnson) Hanserud.

She was baptized in the Lutheran faith and confirmed in May of 1892 by Pastor Moen.

For several years she was employed as a sales clerk at the local stores. She accepted a similar job in Wallace, South Dakota, where she met and married Clifford Youngern on November 25, 1909.

Together, they operated a general store until they retired in 1950. After his sudden death in 1954, Belle returned to Clarkfield and made her home with her nephew, Oscar Melbostad, for many years.

Following an illness in 1961, she moved to the home of Mrs. G.M. Anderson where she was cared for until she entered the Clarkfield Community Hospital on June 7, 1963. Death claimed her on July 2, 1963, at the age of 86 years.

Mrs. Youngern is survived by an older sister, Mrs. Gena Lynne; one brother, John Hanserud; and four nephews: Oscar and Elmer Melbostad, Arden and Clifford Lynne, all of Clarkfield.

Her husband, Clifford Youngren, passed away in 1954. Also preceding her in death are two sisters, Mathilda (Mrs. Amund Melbostad) and Marie (Mrs. Ole Melbostad), and a brother, Edward Hanserud, and a nephew, Melford Lynne.
