Charles E. Brady, 83, of 137 West Middle Street,
Gettysburg, died Monday evening at the Gettysburg
Hospital, where he had been a patient for 2 days.
Born in Hanover, he was a son of the late John B.
& Agatha (Althoff) Brady. His wife Mary C. Eckenrode
Brady, died in 1954.
He was a member of the Annunciation of the Bless-
ed Virgin Mary, McSherrystown & the Holy Name So-
ciety of the church. He retired as a chef from Gettys-
burg College. He was a former owner of Eckenrode's
Bakery, a former inspector at Emeco Corp. in Hanover,
& a Fuller Brush dealer. He also was a member of the
McSherrystown Home Association & the Littlestown
Eagles.
He is survived by 1 son, William E. Brady, 351
Main Street, McSherrystown; 4 grandchildren, 5 great-
grandchildren, 1 sister, Mrs. Loretta B. Topper, of
Hanover, & 1 brother, Paul T. Brady, of Bellevue, Neb.
Funeral services will be held Thursday, meeting at
the Hicks Funeral Home at 8:30 am, followed by a Mass
of Christian Burial at Annunciation Church at 9 am with
Msgr. Donald E. Adams officiating. Interment will be
in St. Joseph's Cemetery in Hanover.
Friends may call at the funeral home Wednesday
evening, with prayers at 8 pm.
