ATHENS: Ronald Drew Etheridge, Sr., PhD, 64, died Sunday, June 21, 2009, at his residence. Funeral services will be held at 11:00am, Thursday, June 25, 2009, at Elam Baptist Church, with Rev. Gary Thomas conducting the services. Burial will follow in Elam Memorial Gardens.

The son of the late D. V. Ehteridge, Jr. and Lillie Grace Etheridge, Dr. Etheridge was born in Macon on October 19, 1944. He served his country with honor as a Medical Corpsman with the United States Navy from 1966 - 1969 in Vietnam. Dr. Etheridge earned his Doctor of Philosophy from the University of Georgia in 1983, and worked as the Laboratory Director of Nutritional Biochemistry in the Agricultural Poultry Science Research Laboratory at The University of Georgia in Athens.

Dr. Etheridge is survived by his loving wife: Marsha Etheridge of Athens; daughter and son-in-law: Cynthia Nell Etheridge and Chris Cunningham of Asheville, North Carolina; son and daughter-in-law: Ronald Drew and Menna Etheridge, Jr., of Invine, California; step-children and spouse: Michael H and Gabrielle Maxner of Birmingham, Alabama and Alison M. Falise of Boca Raton, Florida; sister and brother-in-law: Glenda and Ray Bell of Nashville, Tennessee; brother and sister-in-law: D. Van and Margie Etheridge, III of Macon; and by several nieces and nephews.
