Louella was the daughter of Daniel Hardy and Frances Charlotte "Simmons" Avery. She married (1) Oscar Floyd Lankford (1895-1919) and they had one child, a daughter, Mary Ellen. Oscar Floyd died February 5, 1919 and on August 5, 1920, she married (2) John Thomas Simmons, Sr. and they had two children, John Thomas, Jr. and Frances Delores.
