He began his medical practice in Hartleton, Union Co. where he also operated a drug store. in 1899 he and his wife came to Lincoln.
He was a fellow of the AMA, member of the Missouri Valley Medical Society and Lancaster County Medical Society. He was secretary of the faculty and professor of obstetrics at Nebraska College of Medicine until 1908. He served as president of the staff at St. Elizabeth's Hospital. He was a 32nd degree Mason and Shriner and a member of IOOF.
