Born in Mississippi to Buel Brister and Rosa Alexander Brister, he was a resident of Port Arthur since 1952 until moving to Colleyville 2 1/2 years ago. He was a longtime member of Procter Baptist Church and retired sales clerk, having worked for Bluestein's and Dryden's Clothing Stores for many years.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Marie Brister; sister, Pauline Coon; and brothers, Fred Brister, Marcus Brister and Jimmy Brister.
Survivors include his daughter, Vicki Johnston and husband Everett; son, David Cox and wife Sherry; sister, Perline Cline; brothers, Charles Ray Brister and Earl Pennington; eight grandchildren and five great-grandchildren.
Funeral services at Levingston Funeral Home in Groves, Texas with Dr. Rick Erwin pastor of Procter Baptist Church officiating. Burial at Greenlawn Memorial Park.
