Peter was born in Stommeln, by Pulheim, N.W. of Cologne (Köln), Prussia, Germany. His father and paternal Grandmother were born in the village of Quadrath-Ichendorf [about 3 miles SW of Pulheim]. We may surmise that his birth occurred nearby. His mother mother was, Agnes Baus-Flock (1808-1839) - she died of "consumption" on September 7, 1839, in Germany and was buried there. He came to America with his father in 1857. The family settled in the St Mary's area. Peter married Anna Schmitz (1834-1904). He had a sister, Maria Katerina (1829-1915 married Alois Newburg 1826-????); a brother Mathias (1831-????); sister, Anna Katharina (1829-1834); brother Wilhelm (1834-1904); a step-sister Anna Katernina (1841-????, married William Elsen); step-sister Maria Katherina Elizanbeth (1843-????, married Henry Cremer), and a step-brother Wilhelm (1848-1937, married). Peter and Anna are buried at St Mary's Ridge, as are his father and his step-mother (Apolonia Breuer-Flock 1805-1891) and a number of other close relatives.
