Kinchen Carter Mason, 88, retired hardware merchant died at 6:40 o'clock Saturday evening at the home of his daughter, Mrs. Robert W. Tyler on West Gallatin Street in Adairville following an illness due to advanced age. Impressive funeral services, conducted by Rev Hughlan Richey were held at 3:00 o'clock Sunday afternoon at the Tyler residence with burial in Greenwood cemetery. Pall bearers were M. N. Ryan, Edgar Conn, J. C. Holman, Robert Warren, John Stovall, and Robert Holman. A native son of South Logan County, he was born December 19, 1861. His parents, Isaac G. Mason and Christina Smith Mason were prominent families of that section.
On December 7th, 1887 he was married to Miss Annie Hunt who survives him. To this union three children were born. The eldest son, Hines Mason died several years ago.
Mr. Mason was a member of the Baptist Church. He was a gentleman of the old school type. Possessed of a mild temperament and a friendly manner, he held a warm place in the hearts of all who knew him.
Survivors in addition to his widow and the daughter with whom they have made their home for the past year, are one son, Isaac C. Mason, two grandsons, Rob and Mason Tyler, one granddaughter, Mrs. Edward Renn of Virginia Beach, VA; two great granddaughters Patricia and Martha Renn and one brother, Mr. I. G. Mason of Nashville."
