& Ted Albers 1951∼Bertha Belle Albers was born on May 25, 1908, on the family farm outside of McGregor, the daughter of Arthur and Edna Mae (Love) Adney. She attended the Pleasant Ridge country school.
Following her schooling she began working for several families doing housekeeping in the McGregor area. She was united in marriage on May 19, 1926, to Clarence Schellsmidt in the Cherry Mound Catholic Church, rural Waukon. They made their home farming near Harpers Ferry. To this union was born three children.
Following Clarence's death in 1931, she moved to a farm near her parents in McGregor. In 1934, she married Milton Hahn and had one daughter. In 1941, she married Harvey Moore and moved to Mason City, where she worked for the Yellow Cab Company and worked as a night cook for Mercy Hospital. To this union two children were born.
Bertha married Ted Albers on April 25, 1951, and they celebrated 29 years of marriage in 1980. They made their home southeast of Swaledale before moving northeast of Thornton.
Bertha enjoyed quilting, crocheting and embroidering in her spare time. Spending time in her garden raising vegetables and flowers was a highlight during her summers.
Bertha was preceded in death by her parents and her husband, Ted in 1980.
