ACKERMAN - The Rev. E. D. "Bud" Shivers, 61, died Thursday at his home. Services are 10 a.m. Saturday at First Baptist Church of Ackerman with burial in Enon Cemetery. Arrangements are being handled by Adams-Nowell Funeral Home.
A retired Baptist minister, Shivers had served as pastor of the First Baptist Church in Sandy Springs, Ga., near Atlanta, for 21 years.
He is survived by his wife, Mrs. Mary Alice Shivers; sons, David Shivers of Starkville, Charles Shivers of Woodstock, Ga., Don Shivers of Marietta, Ga., and Tim Shivers and Treva Shivers, both of Birmingham, Ala.; sister, Mrs. Polly Walker of Decatur, Ga.; brothers, Bob Shivers of Decatur, Ga., and Tom Shivers of Chattanooga, Tenn.; and three grandchildren.
