History - Harriet Alice was the daughter of Robert Walker and Maria Abigail Jackman. She was born 21 March 1846 at Pleasant Row, Limehouse, Middlesex, England. She was the only child of her parent that lived.
Her father died while she was small, and her mother married William Nichols. She went to live with her aunt, doing housework. Harriet attended school about six weeks. They had to take the money in their hand every Monday morning to pay for the week of schooling. She worked at different places until she was 18 years old.
She came to Salt Lake Valley in the Fall of 1866. On November 17, 1866 she married Elijah Knapp Fuller, who came to Salt Lake City from Harrisburg, southern Utah, after goods for his store. She received a recommend that he was a good man. They were married in the old Endowment House where religious marriages were performed.
On August 17, 1867 a baby girl was born to them at Harrisburg, Washington, Co., Utah. They named her Maria Amelia Fuller.
In May 1868 her husband, Elijah Knapp Fuller, was put in as counselor to Bishop Stringham. They only had one counselor and two teachers. Milton Dailey and Henry E Huntington were put in as teachers.
On November 4, 1869 another baby girl was born to them at Harrisburg, Washington, Co., Utah. They named her Harriet Ellen.
In 1869 Bishop Stringham was put in as Bishop at Leeds and Wyllys Fuller, one of her husband's older boys was put in as Bishop at Harrisburg.
On December 21, 1871 another baby girl was born to them at Harrisburg. They named her Susannah. In 1876 Wyllys Fuller moved to Arizona. Gouda Hogan, being bishop of Leeds Ward and Harrisburg, made an appendage to Leeds and it remained that way until Harrisburg ceased to exist. On 3 August 1874 a baby boy was born to them at Harrisburg, Washington Co., Utah. They named him Donald Elijah.
A Sunday School had been organized in 1864. Mosiah L. Hancock was Superintendent. In 1869 her husband Elijah became Superintendent of the Sunday School, which position he held until 1779 when they moved to Cedar City, Utah.
On February 16, 1876 another baby girl was born to them at Harrisburg. They named her Martha Florence. In May 1864 the people had met and decided to build a church and schoolhouse combined. They appointed her husband to take charge of the enterprise.
On 10 May 1879 a baby girl came to them. They named her Janie May. As her husband's older sons had moved to Arizona, they moved to Cedar, City, Utah. On 7 September 1882 another baby girl was born to them at this place. They named her Vilate Abigail.
The Indians were very bad at this place and stole most of their horses, mules, and cattle. Her husband decided to sell out and go to Arizona where the rest of his family and older children were. So they moved back to Harrisburg, the spring of 1884. That summer while her husband was helping to put up the hay, he fell off the load and broke his hip.
On December 6, 1884 at Harrisburg another baby girl was born to them. They named her Chloe Bell, Chloe being after her husband's sister. Her husband never walked again without cane and crutch, so they never went on to Arizona. They lived here until about 1889 and then they bought a house at Silver Reef and 2 1/2 acres of ground at Lees and moved the house on the 2 1/2 acres. They lived here to raise the rest of their family. There they planted orchards and vineyards and sold fruit. They also raised bees and sold honey. As Elijah could not work, she had a little variety store and made their living until the children were able to help. She also did babysitting.
Her first girl, Maria Amelia, married Abram Nelson Woodbury on March 11, 1887. They moved to St. George, Utah. They were married in the St. George Temple. Her second girl, Harriet Ellen married Joseph Wammer Blake on April 5, 1887 in the St. George Temple and moved to Hinckley, Utah, the same year. Susannah married James Edward Clark on March 1, 1889 Donald Elijah married Lavina Angell on June 23, 1896 at St. George Temple and lived at Leeds, Utah. Martha Florence married Walter John Randall 23 July 1897 at Pine, Arizona. They were sealed in the St. George Temple, 6 September 1898, and lived in Pine, Arizona. Janie May married Arthur Leo Westover, 10 February 1903, in the St. George Temple. Vilate Abigail married George Mathew Beatty on March 26, 1902 at St. George Temple. Chloe Bell married Joseph Franklin Beatty on 5 August 1903 at St. George Temple.
