CONVOY, Ohio - Mona M. Fortney, 86, of Convoy, passed away Friday, Jan. 2, 2009, at Van Crest Nursing Home in Convoy. She was born on July 20, 1922, to George B. and Ida M. (Tjardis) Carroll in Lansing, Mich. Mona married Arlo G. Fortney on April 25, 1948.

Mona is survived by her husband, Arlo Fortney; son, Monte G. (Rae Ann) Fortney of Fort Wayne, Ind.; daughter, Mrs. Rosalind (Larry) Bailey of Trenton, Mich.; a sister, Dorothy Marzo of Aurora, Ill.; two sisters-in-law, Mildred Carroll of Mobile, Ala., and Marcene Carroll of Kalamazoo, Mich.; five grandchildren, and six great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by one sister and two brothers.

She was a homemaker and an active member of St. Mark's United Methodist Church where she taught Sunday school for many years and was a member of the Rebekah Circle.

Visitation will be on Sunday, Jan. 4, 2009, from noon to 4 p.m. at Haggard & Sefton Funeral Home, 225 W. Adams St., Decatur, Ind., and one hour prior to the service at the church. The funeral will be held at St. Mark's United Methodist Church on Monday, Jan. 5 at 10 a.m. with the Rev. Jeff Taylor officiating. Burial will take place at the IOOF Cemetery in Convoy, Ohio.
