Chesterton Tribune, Thursday, June 6, 1918: Mrs. Hannah Gunder, who came to this county in an early day, passed away Thursday morning at 7:20 at the home of her son, Emmanuel Gunder, of Chesterton, with whom she had been living. Other surviving children are Thomas, Will, Frank, Harrison and John. Mrs. Gunder leaves, besides, two brothers,John Crisman Sr. of Deep River, and Thomas Crisman,of Hobart, three sisters, Mrs. Eliza Smith, of Knox, Mrs. Louisa Sholl of Hubbel, Nebraska and Mrs. Alice Bentley,of Narcy, Kansas, twenty-five grandchildren and seven great-grandchildren. Mrs. Gunder's maiden name was Crisman. She was the widow of Joshua Gunder, a veteran of the Civil War, who died several years ago. To him she was married April 2, 1852. She was born in Carroll County, Ohio, May 25, 1833, giving her the age of 84 years and 5 days.
