Interment in Resthaven Gardens of Memory. Survived by his wife of 58 years, Doris Althea Crary Bennett; two daughters, Lynnette B. Frazer and husband Thomas L. Frazer and Jeanne B. Strickland and husband James Michael Strickland; a son, Richard C. "Rick" Bennett and wife Sharon J. Bennett; a sister, Joyce B. Thompson; eight grandchildren, Daun Moore Brown, Shaun Moore, Shawn and Mark Frazer, Ashley Sides and Amanda, Aimee and Ricky Bennett; and five great-grandchildren, John Thomas, Caroline and Jackson Sides, Joshua Beau Brown and Emily Eglin Frazier.
Preceded in death by his parents, Henry D. and Bertha R. Bennett; two brothers, Marvin Bennett and Lenford Carl Bennett; and two sisters, Obera B. Downs and Mona Jean Bennett.
He was a member of Capital Lodge No. 399, Order of the Eastern Star Chapter 163 and Acacia Shrine. He attended Texas A&M University.
