Services Today For Ethel R. Walker

Funeral services for Ethel Riley Walker, 76, of Ava, will be held at 1 p.m. today (Thursday) at Clinkingbeard Chapel with the Rev. Trevis Twitty officiating. Burial will be in Ava Cemetery.

A lifelong resident of Ava, Mrs. Walker died at 12:30 p.m., Monday, Dec. 17, at St. John's Regional Health Center, Springfield, following a long illness.

She was a member of the General Baptist Church and attended the Assembly of God Church.

Born Sept. 17, 1908, at Blanche, Mo., she was the daughter of Riley and Martha Riley Hicks. She married William Henry Riley on Oct. 6, 1924, at Blanche, then on May 27, 1969, was married to Thomas McKinley Walker at Ava. Both husbands preceded her in death.

Survivors include two sons, Robert Riley, Belton, Mo., and Bill Riley, Ava; seven daughters, Mrs. Evelyn Bagwell, Springfield; Mrs. Loren Robertson, Lee=s Summit; Mrs. Ethel Versaw, Ava; Mrs. Anna Adams, Independence; Mrs. Zona Hartin, Kingfisher, Okla; Mrs. Delphia Virginia Taylor, Mansfield; and Mrs. Beverly Meredith, Independence; 39 grandchildren; 43 great grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews. Two children, Lemuel E.T. Riley and Lena Ruth Hendrix, preceded her in death.
