MOORE, Robert Payne, 75, Lexington, KY, died Fri., May 27, 2005. He was the son of the late Sarah and Elwood Moore of Bloomfield, KY. Born in Nelson County, Mr. Moore maintained a life-long interest in genealogy. Pat Carter Moore, his wife of 46 years, is the surviving spouse. Bob was graduated from Bloomfield High School and the University of Kentucky. His graduate work included a Masters of Russian Linguistics from Harvard; a PhD at Cornell University and some work at Syracuse University. Mr. Moore served active and reserve duty in the U.S. Air Force where he received the rank of Lieut. Colonel. His civilian career included teaching Russian at the University of Kentucky and Illinois State University. He also worked at the Washington, D. C. office of the Dept. of Defense where Soviet awareness was his specialty. He was a member of the Nelson County and Kentucky genealogical societies and the Civil War Round Table. Bob was raised in the Bloomfield Christian Church and later became a member of Crestwood Christian Church in Lexington. Visitation is at the W. R. Milward Mortuary-Southland, Sun. May 29th from 5-7 pm with services to follow at 7 pm. conducted by Rev. Bill McDonald and Rev. Colette Hensley. A private burial will be held at Camp Nelson National Cemetery.
