James Arwin Alger was the son of James Alva & Harriet Elfeda Sanderson Alger. He was the grandson of Samuel Nelson Pulsipher Alger & Ruth Elmina Pace Alger.
James married Leona Muriel Foster May 26 1941 in Pioche, Nevada. Leona died in 1969 and James married Lavera Johannah Jensen on September 27 1971.

CLEVELAND, UTAH- James A. Alger, age 72, died August 18, 1981.

Born January 17, 1909 in Sunnyside, Utah to Harriet E. Sanderson and James Alva Alger. Married Leona Muriel Foster, she died in 1969. Married Lavera Johannah Jensen September 27, 1971 in Manti, Utah. He was a retired coal miner. Member of the UMWA Horse Canyon local. Cleveland City Councilman at the time of death.

Survived by wife, Cleveland; sons and daughters, Jim, Torr[?] and Ethel Thayne; all Wellington, Jennie McGourk, Georgia; John and Pete, Price; Frank Jensen, Wichita; step-children, Daniel Von Johnson, Lindon; Peter Ray Johnson, Phoenix, Arizona; Marie Miller and Evelyn Stewart, both Cedar City; 30 grandchildren; nine great-grandchildren; brothers and sisters, Don, Salt Lake City; Lois Anderson, Dolorado; Dave, Quentan, Merrill, Mina, Lyman, Elva, Ennis, Joyce Clark and Barbara Zayack, all California.

Funeral services Saturday 1:00 p.m. in the Cleveland LDS Ward Chapel. Friends may call at the Ward Chapel one hour prior to services. Burial Price City Cemetery under direction of Fausett Mortuary.
