WENATCHEE _ John E. Andrews, 83, died Tuesday, June 1, 1993, in Central Washington Hospital after an extended illness.

He was born Jan 11, 1910, to James and Emma (Ruston) Andrews at Withrow. He attended and graduated from Withrow schools. He attended Cheney College near Spokane, then returned home to work with his father.

He married Alice Andrews in 1937, and they lived at Withrow. They moved in 1945 to Mansfield where he purchased a grocery store and operated it until his retirement in 1972. After retirement, they moved to Arizona and lived there for 10 years before moving to Wenatchee in 1982.

He married Mae E. Lorraine on Nov. 30, 1985, at Wenatchee where they made their home.

Mr. Andrews was past master of the Mansfield F&AM Lodge Number 215, past patron of OES Lodge Number 162, a member of Scottish Rite of Wenatchee, a member of El Katiff of Spokane, a member of the Wenatchee Valley Shrine Club, a member of the Columbia Basin Past Masters Association, a member of the Mansfield Order of the Eastern Star; a past Dad Advisor for the Rainbow for Girls; and a retired fireman from the Mansfield Volunteer Fire Department.

He is survived by his wife, at the home; two stepdaughters, Mrs. Dennis (JoAnn) Hall of East Wenatchee and Mrs. Allen (Mary Lou) Bunn of Spokane; three grandchildren; and a great-granddaughter. He was preceded in death by his first wife who died in 1983, three brothers and six sisters.
