Visitation will be from 10 am. to 7 p.m. Wednesday, Feb. 4, at Tennant Funeral Home. The funeral mass will be at 10 a.m. Thursday, Feb. 5, at St. Anthony's Catholic Church with the Rev. Adelberto De Gante officiating. Burial will be at Sunset Memorial Gardens. Vigil and Rosary will be at Wednes day at 7 p.m. at Tennant.
Mrs. Cucarola was born Dec. 16, 1896, to Anthony and Amelia (Penzo) Piazza on a cotton plantation called Sunny Side, near Lake Village, Ark. Several years later the family moved to Knobview, Mo., where she received her early education. She worked as a postmistress, teacher, and as a clerk in her father's business.
She married Anthony Cucarola on April 21, 1919, in
Knobview. The couple moved to Padroni in 1920 and began a long farming career. In 1946 they retired from farming and moved to Denver, and in 1972 they moved back to Sterling.
Mrs. Cucarola enjoyed reading, gardening, homemaking and family life. She was a member of St. Anthony's Catholic Church.
She is survived by one son, Joseph Cucarola and wife Lillian of Sterling, two daughters- in-law, Anna Cucarola and Ione Cucarola, both of Sterling; 11 grandchildren; 15 great-grand children; numerous nieces and nephews; and close friend Donna Smith of Sterling.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Anthony, on Aug. 17, 1979; two sons, Robert and Eugene; three brothers; four sisters; and a granddaughter, Patricia Anne Cucarola Beckcr.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests memorials be made to St. Anthony School or for masses.
