Leona Marie P. Chavis, 75, passed away on Saturday, April 18, 2009 in a Lafayette hospital.
She was born in Welsh on October 15, 1933 and resided in Lake Charles. She was a member of the Lady's Altar Society, Ladies Choice Social Club of Lake Charles and a member of the American Quarter Horse Association, as well as the American Thoroughbred Association.
Survivors include her children, Lou Anna Chavis Guidry and husband John S. of Lake Charles, Margaret Chavis John and companion Curtis Harmon of Lake Charles, Wilson "Poncho" Anthony Chavis Jr. and wife, Alberta of Lake Charles, Licia Ann Chavis and companion Jerry Holden of Lake Charles, Rellis Victor Chavis Sr. and wife Jonnie Belle Chavis of Lake Charles; brothers, Manuel Predium of Moreno Valley, CA, Paul Predium of Compton, CA, Lionel Predium of Moreno Valley, CA, Raymond Predium and Adam Predium Jr. of Lake Charles; sisters, Rosetta Valentine of Chicago, IL, Brenda Fay Jones of Lake Charles, Geraldine Cross of Vinton, LA; godchild, Deidra Watson of Lake Charles along with numerous nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Adam Predium and Hazel (Gallow) Predium; husband, Wilson "Boozoo" Chavis; son, Anthony Charles Chavis; sister, Rose Chavis and brother, Daniel Predium.
Her funeral service will be 10 a.m. Saturday, April 25, 2009 at Our Lady Queen of Heaven. Father Tim Goodley will officiate.
Burial will be in Highland Cemetery under the direction of Hixson Funeral Homes.
