Lyon was the son of the late John and Mary Lyon. He and his parents operated grocery store and post office at Norden, Nevada County years ago. He was graduated from the high school in Truckee, Nevada County.
For the last 14 years Lyon had been employed as a salesman with the Lyon Darwin Hardware Company in Oak Park.
He was a member of Union Lodge No. 58 of Free and Accepted Masons, the Ben Temple of the Shrine and Sacramento Scottish Rite Bodies. He was a World War II veteran.
Surviving are his wife, Mildred; children, Thomas Kay E., Roy W. and Lonnie S.; a brother, Lloyd D. of Sacramento; and a sister, M Margaret B. Rutishauser of Turlock, Stanislaus County.
Another brother, William died about four years ago.
