OBITUARY
John Manchester
John Manchester, aged fifty-seven years, died in Bainbndge, Thursday, July 23 after a three day illness, following a cerebral hemorrhage. Funeral rites were largely attended Saturday afternoon at 3:30 in the Tillapaugh Funeral Home at Schenevus with the Rev. Walter A. Miller, pastor of the Westville Baptfst church, of which Mr. Manchester wasa member, officiating. There was no music but Rev. Miller recited the words of two hymns, "What a Friend We Have In Jesus," and "Abide With Me." Flowers were received from relatives, friends, neighbors, road workers, and Westville Baptist church. Burial was made in the Westville cemetery.
Mr. Manchester was born at Westville in March 26, 1885, a son of the late George and Helen (Kemp) Manchester. He had resided in Bainbridge the past several years.
He is survived by his wife, the former Hazel Johnson Weldon; one sister, Mrs. Nancy Barrett of Middlefield who attended the funeral; his step-mother, Mrs. Minnie Manchester of Schenevus; two half-brothers, Leland Manchester of Warnerville, and Robert Manchester of Schenevus; two half-sisters, Mrs. Margaret Meade of Charlotteville and Miss Frances Manchester of Schenevus; a foster brother, Calvin Upham of Hempstead, L. I. and a step-son who resides in Westford.
