He was born December 16, 1915 in the town of New Holstein to the late Robert & Lizzie (Hass) Greve. Gerald attended New Holstein High School.
He was employed at the Hart Carter Company for eleven years. After two years working on his parent's farm he was employed at the Arps Corporation for thirty-eight years in the Shipping/Receiving department. He was a member of the Equitable Reserve Association, International Association of Machinists and Aerospace workers.
Gerald was a member of St. John United Church of Christ in New Holstein.
Gerald Greve and Mabel Thede were married on May 28, 1938 and enjoyed 61 years of marriage until Mabel passed away on October 28, 1999.
Survivors include his daughter, Sandra (Thomas) Lechler of Kiel, three Grandchildren, four Great-Grandchildren, and one sister, Ivy Mae Paulsen of New Holstein.
Preceding him in death were his wife; parents; three sons, Larry S.Greve, Ronald G. Greve and Richard A Greve.
A Memorial Service will be held 5:00 PM Tuesday August 23, 2011 at Sippel Funeral Home 2618 Altona Ave. in New Holstein.
A gathering of family and friends will take place at the Sippel Funeral Home in New Holstein on Tuesday from 4:00 PM until the time of services.
Heart felt appreciation to the Doctors, Nurses, Aids and other staff members at the Homestead Care Center who cared for Gerald.
