Married Ruth Ardell Whitaker, 17 Oct 1936, Rexburg, Madison, Idaho

Oibtuary: Andrew George Hunt 1915 ~ 2005 Andrew George Hunt, 89, passed away peacefully August 19, of causes incident to age. Andrew was born on October 14, 1915 in Firth, Idaho to Edna Hansen and Warren Lee Hunt. He married the love of his life, Ruth Whitaker on October 17, 1936 in Rexburg, Idaho. The marriage was later solemnized in the Idaho Falls Temple. He was a devoted and loving husband for nearly 69 years, holding his sweethearts hand until the day he died.

He grew up on a farm in Firth, Idaho and later moved to Pocatello. As a young man, he won the Amateur Golden Gloves Boxing Title for the state of Idaho. He and Ruth moved to the Bay area where he worked as a Boilermaker for Union Pacific and then later in the Kaiser Shipyards. He then formed Hunt Masonry Company, working as a masonry contractor for over 30 years. Andy always claimed that his fireplaces could withstand any California earthquake. He was well respected in the community and known for his hard work and integrity.

Andy was an active member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, serving as Bishop and a member of the Stake Presidency in the Fremont area. He formed many lasting friendships there and was respected and loved by all.

He moved his family to Cache Valley, Utah in 1972 where he owned a farm, giving his sons and grandchildren the opportunity to learn the value of hard work. He and Ruth built a home in Smithfield where they lived for 27 years, enjoying the association of many good neighbors and friends. They have spent the past four years in Bountiful being closer to family, as their health declined.

Andy will be greatly missed by his wife and family, as they were the center of his life. He was truly a pillar of strength and a hero to many.

He is survived by his wife, Ruth and three children: Robert Hunt of Sandy, UT; Patricia Jackman (Jerry) of Danville, CA; and Randall Hunt (Bonnie) of Farmington, UT; 12 grandchildren, 29 great-grandchildren and one great-great grandson. He is also survived by three brothers, Wilford, Jack (Louise) and Robert Hunt, and one sister, Ila Mae Bruner. He was preceded in death by his parents, two brothers and four sisters.

Funeral services will be held Saturday, August 27th, in the Smithfield Utah Stake Center, 600 E. 120 S, at 12 noon. Friends and family may visit from 10:30 to 11:30 a.m., Saturday morning, in Smithfield, prior to the service. A viewing will also be held Friday evening from 7 to 8 p.m. at the Lindquist's Bountiful Mortuary, 727 N. 400 E.

The family wishes to thank the Barton Creek Assisted Living staff for their kind and loving care. Though his body was worn and tired, his mind and wit were sharp as he shared priceless stories from his past. He was always gracious in expressing gratitude to those who served him. Interment will be at the Smithfield Cemetery.
