Mrs. Sarah Kent Dispennett, 79, died at the home of her son-in-law and daughter in this city, Mr. and Mrs. Herman Rushing, 501 Eastwood, Thursday morning, March 30, after only a brief illness, largely of the infirmities of age. Funeral services were held Sunday at 3 p.m. at the Christian church, the Rev. Jos. P. Read, the pastor, and the Rev. Roy F. Bradley of the Misson Church conducting the service. Interment was in Maple cemetery.
Mrs. Dispennett was born Feb. 29, 1865 at Creal Springs, Ill., the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Joseph Kent. She was reared there and in 1889 was married to the late Hiram Langley. Four children were born of this marriage, three of whom survive. These are William H. Langley of Eudora, Ark., and Mdmes. Cora B. Medlin and Mary B. Stover, both of this city. One son, Joseph D. Langley, as well as her husband, preceded her in death.
In August of 1901 she was married to Isaac Dispennett and they made their home in this city for the past 39 years. He passed away several years ago.
One daughter was born to them, Mrs. Anna Rushing of Caruthersville, and she also reared a step-daughter, the late Mrs. Sadie Hood of Chaffee, Mo.
In addition to the relatives mentioned Mrs. Dispennett is survived by 14 grandchildren, 3 great-grandchildren and a number of nieces and nephews. She had been a member of the Christian church for perhaps 40 years and was known as a devout Christian woman and a kind and friendly neighbor in the community.
