Obituary from Post Register (Idaho Falls, ID) - 11 February 2000:
Wilma Minnie Black Johnston, 86, of Idaho Falls, a former resident of Teton City, died February 9, 2000, at the Beehive Lily Home in Idaho Falls of a heart attack.
She was born May 16, 1913, in Wilford, Idaho, to Henry Harrison and Mary Lydia Birch Black. She grew up in Wilford, Fremont County, and attended schools in St. Anthony and Sugar City, where she graduated in 1931. On September 21, 1932, she married Marion Sinclair Johnston in the Logan, Utah, LDS Temple.
They lived in Teton City, Pocatello and Idaho Falls. She worked at the Teton School cafeteria, in seed houses in St. Anthony and Idaho Falls, at the Ricks College cafeteria, and she served as a supervisor in the Idaho Falls LDS Temple cafeteria. Her husband died May 12, 1973.
An active member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, she served as a teacher in the auxiliaries, as Primary president, stake Primary historian, MIA president, and Relief Society counselor. Her interests included temple work and genealogy, growing flowers, yard work, fishing and traveling. She was always a good example, kind to everyone, and she made friends easily; a joy in her life was interacting with the Ricks College students at the cafeteria.
Survivors include a son, Jacob Cornell (Norma) Johnston of Idaho Falls; two daughters, Wilma Joyce (Kay) Johnson of Shelley, and Diane (Steven) Wilcken of Des Moines, Wash.; a sister, Blanche (Marion) Stoddard of St. Anthony; 15 grandchildren; and 26 great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her brothers, Warren, Reed, Virgil, and Blaine; and a sister, Irene Pratt Cruser Thornton.
Funeral services will be at 11 a.m. Monday at the Teton City LDS Ward, 44 W. Main in Teton. The family will visit with friends Sunday from 7 p.m. to 8:30 p.m. at Coltrin Colonial Mortuary, 2100 First St. in Idaho Falls, and Monday for one hour before services at the church. Burial will be in the Teton-Newdale Cemetery.
