LILA VERONA MORTER
A funeral will be at 2 p.m. Tuesday, March 25, 1997, in Attrell's Newberg Funeral Chapel for Lila Verona Morter, who died March 22 at age 88.
Mrs. Morter was born July 19, 1908, in Norfolk, Neb.. Her maiden name was Thompson. In 1926, she married Paul F.; he died in 1996. They moved to Oregon in 1942 and settled in Newberg. She worked for Pendleton Woolen Mills in Milwaukie and the Shirt Factory in Newberg. The couple was responsible for developing Morton Street. She was a Methodist.
Surviving are her sons, Harry and Rodney, both of Newberg; daughters, Eldoris Dyer of Sherwood, Ramona Hall of Christmas Valley and Joan Bales of Dundee; brothers, Kenneth Thompson of Parma, Idaho, and Arol Thompson of Powell Butte; sisters, Eula Hill of Casper, Wyo., Iola Searles of Pacific City and Salena Wright of Milwaukie; 23 grandchildren; and 55 great-grandchildren.
Internment will be in Newberg Friends Cemetery.
