Mary Ellen Hamilton, 78, of Gilman died at 7:52 p.m. Tuesday (Feb. 22, 1989) at Burnham Hospital, Champaign.
A funeral will be at 10:30 a.m. Friday at the First United Methodist Church, Gilman, the Rev. Keith Inskeep officiating.
Burial will be in Sheldon Cemetery, Sheldon.
Visitation will be from 5 to 8 p.m. today at the Redenius Funeral Home, Gilman and one hour before the service at the church on Friday.
MaryEllen was born Aug. 31, 1910, in Concord Township near Iroquois, a daughter of Frank B. and Opal Cross Coughenour.
She married John R. Hamilton on Nov. 7, 1931, in Kankakee. He survives.
Also surviving are two sons, Burl and Lowell, both of Gilman; one brother, Frank Coughenour, seven grandchildren; and one great-grandson.
She was preceded in death by two brothers and three grandchildren.
Mrs. Hamilton grew up in Muskogee, Okla. She attended Rhode Island country school near Iroquois. She graduated from Iroquois High School.
Mrs. Hamilton worked at Western Condenser, Watseka. She also worked at Central Dress Co. and Roberts Pest and Weed Control, both of Gilman.
She was a 40-year resident of Gilman, moving from Watseka, where she had lived for eight years.
She was a member of the Methodist Church, the Mary Martha Circle of the church and was a former member of the Rebekah Lodge, Gilman.
