He was the son of Johann Ludwig and Johanna Elizabetha Little [Kline]. He was baptized on January 18, 1739 in the Reformed Church at Wolfersweiler in the Saarland. He came to Philadelphia on September 3, 1742 on the ship "Loyal Judith" with his parents and his older brother Peter, the founder of Littlestown, PA. About 1751 his parents moved from Lancaster County, PA to the frontier in Union Township, Adams County, PA. Frederick married Dorothy Wendel about 1760. He acquired a 235 acre farm in Germany Township. In 1799 he was living in a two story log house Littlestown. Frederick and Dorothy had ten children: Anna Maria Crabs, Elizabeth Strealy, Barbara Brothers [38750608], Frederick Jr. [108413814], Magdalena Little, Catharine Aughenbaugh, Dorothea King, Susan, Hannah and David Little. He served in the militia during the Revolutionary War.
