Ran a Hotel in Wooten Wells, a mineral water resort in Texas in the early 1900s. His son-in-law, W. D. Watson was a well known hotel operator in Texas.

His name was James L. Beaty [not as his tombstone indicates J T Beaty]

James L. Beaty (Brother of Berrien Beaty)-- Private - September 7, 1861. Elected Jr. 2nd Lieutenant April 10, 1862; 2nd Lieutenant August 1, 1862. Roll dated November 7, 1864, last on file, shows him present.

Berrien Beaty (Brother of James L. Beaty) -- Private - May 11, 1862. Sick in Quitman, Ga. hospital August 31, 1864. Furloughed for 30 days near Richmond, Virginia, January 1, 1865.
Surrendered, Tallahassee, Florida, May 10, 1865. Paroled, Thomasville, Georgia, May 19, 1865.

Beaty Funeral Was Held Today at 10:30

The funeral of James L. Beaty was held this morning at 10:30 o'clock from the chapel of the L. C. Puckett Undertaking company.
Rev. A. D. Porter officiated. For the past year Mr. Beaty has been living in Pine Bluff, Ark., with Mr. and Mrs. M. D. Watson, Mrs. Watson being his daughter.

Mr. Beaty, who was 77 years of age, was born in Quitman, Ga.
He came to Waco in 1892, and a few years ago moved to Wootan Wells, going from there last year to Pine Bluff.
He died in Pine Bluff, the body being brought to Waco Saturday night by Mr. and Mrs. Watson.
The pall bearers were W. H. Jones, W. W. Seley, O. L. Stribling, A. D. Adams, J. A. Dryden and Charles E. Moore.

Burial: Oakwood Cemetery, Waco, Texas - Cause of death: old age- by M D Watson- funeral cost $33.50 no casket.

HE WAS MARRIED TWICE. HIS 1st WIFE WAS: Elizabeth Jane DUKES. HE & HIS OLDER BROTHER WILLIAM BEATY MARRIED SISTERS.
