DEATH OF HENRY ADAMS.

Henry Adams, an old settler, who had been living with Mr. and Mrs. Harve Adams, north of town, who went to Rosean the first of the week for a few days' visit with friends, died suddenly Friday morning. Funeral services were held this afternoon and interment made in the Frost cemetery.

The funeral of H. C. Adams was held Saturday afternoon at 2 o'clock at the home of his son, Thomas Adams, five miles north of town. Rev. E. J. Knepp, of the Americus Methodist Church, conducted the services. The choir was Mrs. Abraham, Mrs. Nicklin, R. S. Spiker and Ned Watson. The pallbearers were grandsons of the dead man. H. C. Adams was born in Quincy, Ill., August 19, 1831. He came to Kansas in 1865 and had lived in Lyon County most of the time since. At an early age Mr. Adams became a member of the Methodist church and had lived a devoted Christian life and a life that will long be remembered by his relatives and friends. In 1850 he was married to Eliza Jane Conner. To them nine children were born, four of whom are dead. January 1, 1895, Mrs. Adams died, and in 1896, Mr. Adams was married to Sarah Lague, who survives him, together with two daughters and three sons, Mrs. Oscar Foster, of Iola; Mrs. Thomas Saylors, of Emporia; Tom Adams, of Emporia; Harvey Adams, of Bushong and Charles Adams, of Lawton, Okla.
