GOODLAND SOLDIER DIED
IRA ARD Left Here About Two Years Ago to Enter Service
Ira Ard, who left Goodland about two years ago too. Join the army, died at Fort Sam Houston, Tex., February 5, according to a report reaching his friends here this week. He formerly worked at the ice plant here, and was employed at the railroad shops for a short time. He was 24 years old, and at the time of his death was assigned to the Second Division air corps at Fort Sam Houston.
Mr. Ard was a son of Mr.and Mrs N. E. Ard of Elsmore, Kans. He was born at Elsmore September 26, 1903. He spent most of his life at Elsmore. Besides his parents he leaves three brothers and four sisters, David, Glenn, Merle, Clara, Eufaula, Ona and Ina Ard. A twin brother preceded him in death.
The body was returned to Elsmore for burial, and the funeral was held February 9, conducted by Reverend Swanson of the Swedish Lutheran church.
