Walter H Bowers, 89, formerly of Union Mills, MD died Monday evening at Long View Nursing Home, Manchester, MD. A son of the late Filmore & Alice (Harner) Bowers, he was preceded in death by his wife, the former Emma Myers, who died 11/07/1967. Surviving are seven children, Mrs. Edith V. Stonesifer, Littlestown R2; Mrs Catherine M Noel, Westminster; Mrs. Emma G. McQuay, Finksburg; Mrs. Dorothy I Stephan, Westminster, Mr. John R. Bowers, Westminster; Naomi L. Sirkis, Pikesville; and Mrs. Phyllis L. Kessler, York; 2 sisters, Mrs. Ruth Wantz, Green Acres, Gettysburg; and Mrs. Minnie Lockner, Abbottstown, 26 Grandchildren and 22 great grandchildren. He was a member of St. Marys' Lutheran Church, Silver Run. Funeral services will be held Thursday morning at 10:00 at the Littles Funeral Home with his pastor Rev. Roland Ries officiating. Interment will be in St. Marys' Cemetery, Silver Run. Friends may call Wednesday evening at the funeral home in Littlestown. The family has suggested that in lieu of memorials, contributions be mad to the St. Marys Lutheran Church, Silver Run.
