"Dr. Joseph Lort, a well known physician who practiced in Chester county, Pa., and also in Cecil county Maryland, died at his residence in Lewisville on November 22, 1890, by accidently taking carbolic acid. He was in his 45th year.
Dr. Lort married Miss Martha Almena McCleary, daughter of John and Elizabeth (Gallaher) McCleary, of the 4th district. They had the following children:Helen Mauldin Lort, who married Dr. William H. Teeter, Addie M. Lort, who married Ezekiel Boulden, Andrew J. Lort, who married Mabel Ellen Quein, Joseph F. Lort, and Charles B. Lort. Dr. Lort is buried in Sharp's cemetery. His widow later remarried William Yonker of Lewisville."
