Gertrude J. Aikin, 83. of Sterling, died Wednesday. Feb. 22. 1995, in Sterling.
Visitation and viewing 0 begin 10 a.m., Friday. Feb. 24. at Chaney-Walters Chapel. Funeral services are 2 p.m., Saturday. Feb. 25, at Chancy-Walters Funeral Home, with Dr. Charles F. Kriner officiating. Burial will be 10 am.. Monday, Feb. 27, at Gunnison Cemetery, with Rev. Shan Martin officiating.
Mrs. Aikin was born Oct. 12, 1911, to A.J. Holesworth in Querida, Colo. She attended school and graduated from high school in Canon City. She attended Western State College in Gunnison.
She married Hugh A. Aikin on Nov. 6, 1935 in Gunnison.
Mrs. Aikin worked in the Gunnison County Court for eight years before moving to Sterling in December of 1941.
She worked for the Logan County Court and the automobile department until her retirement in 1976.
Mrs. Aikin was a member of the First Presbyterian Church. She was a life member of the Order of the Eastern Star, Waunita Chapter and the Alpha Sigma Alpha sorority. She was a volunteer for the Logan County Hospital Auxiliary.
Mrs. Aikin is survived a son. Hugh J. Aikin. and grandson, Brandon Aikin, both of Sterling.
She was preceded in death by her husband, sisters and brothers.
