Harry C. Black, 68, of 1083 River Rd., New Castle, died at 6 p.m. yesterday in St. Francis Hospital after a brief illness. He was born in Edinburg Dec. 3, 1905 to the late Plummer and Myrtle Erwin Black. He was a watchman for the Penn-Central Railroad. Mr. Black was an Army veteran of World War II, serving two years in Europe. He is survived by his wife, the former Lillie Crowl, whom he married Dept. 11, 1943; two sisters, Miss Mary Black of R.D. 7, and Mrs. Alvin (Emma) Lodwick of North Lima, Ohio. He was preceded in death by four brothers, George, James, Samuel and Lawrence. Friends will be received at the Monas W. Cunningham Funeral Home, Oak Street, from 7 to 9 p.m. today and from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. tomorrow. A service will be held at 2 p.m. Sunday at the funeral home, conducted by the rev. Bruce Boak of Bessemer United Presbyterian Church. Burial will be in Battery B Cemetery, Mt. Jackson.
