Deaconess Dorothy Allen moved to Newport News, VA, in 1941, after her marriage to Howard Allen. She resided in Newport News, VA until 2007 when her health began to fail. At that time she moved with her daughter to Farmville, VA.

A funeral service was held at 11 a.m., Thursday, June 25, 2009, at the Zion Baptist Church, Newport News, VA. Interment in the Hampton Memorial Gardens, Hampton, VA.

Funeral arrangements entrusted to the staff of the E. B. Allen Funeral Home, 711 Griffin Blvd, Farmville, VA.
