US Congressman. During the Civil War, he served as a Major as in the Quartermaster Corps, Union Army. After the war, he was a member of the Wisconsin State Senate, 1872 to 1874. In 1875, he was elected as a Democrat to the Forty-fourth Congress, serving until 1877. After his term, he relocated to Greenwood, Texas and engaged in agricultural pursuits until his death.
