Sophia M. "Soph" Sachs was a former community volunteer in several community groups and at the former Jewish Hospital, now Barnes-Jewish Hospital.

She also was a member of the National Council of Jewish Women. Last summer, the Butterfly House in Faust Park in Chesterfield was named for her.

Born in Russia, she came to this country with her family when she was 4. She was the widow of Samuel C. Sachs, founder of Sachs Electric Co.; he died in 1980.
