YORK John R. Allison, Jr., 88, died Tuesday, May 26, 2009, at Rest Haven-York. He was the husband of the late Betty R. (Gladfelter) Allison. The family is following Mr. Allison's request that funeral services and burial be private. The Geiple Funeral Home, Inc. 53 Main St., Glen Rock, is in charge of the arrangements. Mr. Allison was born on September 23, 1920, in York, a son of the late John R. Sr. and Flora (Frey) Allison. He graduated from Southeastern Louisiana College with a Degree in Education and received his Master's Degree from Shippensburg College. He was a teacher for over 35 years, having taught for most of those years at Northeastern Senior High School in Manchester, where he taught Social Studies, Math and Drivers Education. He also was the Athletic Director and coached Basketball and Baseball for many years. He is survived by a daughter, Carla S. Fishel and her husband, George W. Jr. of York; a son, John R. Allison III and his wife, Susan E. of York; two grandchildren, Michael E. Allison and Kristen E. Hartsock; three greatgrandchildren, Drue E. Allison, Emma E. Allison and Lana E. Hartsock; and a sister, Shirley Schroll of Plano Texas. He was predeceased by four sisters. The family requests, in lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to York County SPCA, 3159 Susquehanna Trail N., York, PA 17406; or to the Alzheimer's Association, 3544 N.
