Dr. Thomas Hancock Hall, a resident of Paradise Island, Nassau, since 1960, died Monday, January 15, 2007, at South Miami Hospital in Florida. Born at Havana, Cuba, February 11, 1920, Dr. Hall was a decorated World War II pilot and served with the 364th Fighter Group in England. He flew 63 missions, experienced 300 hours of combat and downed five enemy aircraft. A Flight Leader and Ace, Lieutenant Hall was awarded the Distinguished Flying Cross twice, as well as 11 Air Medals. After the war, he graduated from the Southern School of Optometry and practiced in Miami until 1960, when he moved to Nassau and joined forces with Dr. Michael Lightbourne. Later, Dr. Hall opened two practices in Nassau, at the British Colonial Arcade and on Parliament Street. For some years, he also provided optometric services to family islanders from his own plane as well as his boat, the JulieBell. Dr. Hall was active in Rotary International, and was instrumental in arranging for the Blue Angels and the Thunderbirds to perform at their fundraiser at Rotarama, Hobby Horse Hall. His eldest son, Randy, assumed management of Optical Services when Dr. Hall retired some years ago. He is also survived by sons David and Robert, both residents in the United States, daughters-in-law Annie and Cathyrne, grandchildren, Jason, Josh and Madeleine and great grandchildren, Henry Nigel, Ronan Eli, Kristin Ashelei, Ethan Julian and Liam Emerson. Father, grandfather, great grandfather, entrepreneur, adventurer, visionary, raconteur, Tom Hall was one-of-a-kind. He will be remembered. There will be a private celebration of his life at his property on Paradise Island at a date and time to be announced later.

Mr. and Mrs. William Jeter Harris, 1054 S.W. 12th Court, announce the engagement of their daughter, Myrtle, to Aviation Cadet Thomas Hancock Hall, US Army, son of Mr. and Mrs. T. H. Hall, 1515 NW 17th Ave. Miss Harris is graduate of Miami High school and is past secretary of Axaca Club. Cadet Hall is also graduate of Miami High and attended University of Miami. He now is finishing his Army training in California. The wedding will take place in the early summer.
