Elmer F. Bossert was an attorney at Liberty, Indiana.

His youth was spent in Brookville, Indiana, and he obtained his law degree at Indiana University in 1921. Not long after graduation he was appointed prosecuting attorney for the Thirty-seventh Judicial District of Indiana, and then elected to the same office in 1923. Thereafter he moved to Liberty and opened a private legal practice.

Bossert's life and career paralleled that of his attorney brother, Walter. Both grew up in Brookville and obtained their law degrees at Indiana University. The brothers were partners in the Liberty firm Bossert and Bossert. Like Walter, Elmer was a Republican party stalwart. Both brothers served as city attorney for Liberty and attorney for Union County, of which Liberty is the seat. Both brothers were also members of the Ku Klux Klan, and Walter was, from 1924 to 1926, the KKK Grand Dragon for Indiana and 17 other states.
