New Holstein—(Special)—Mrs. Herman Bartels, 66, died Sunday morning at 7 o'clock after an illness of five years. She was born Feb. 17, 1875 in Germany, daughter of John and Elizabeth Miller Hass. At the age of 16 she moved with her family to New Holstein. On March 31, 1903 she married Mr. Bartels and with the exception of two years spent in Chicago the family always lived here.
Survivors are the husband, a daughter, Elda, who is Calumet County nurse, a son, Edgar of West Allis, three sisters and four brothers, Mrs. Robert Greve, Mrs. Fred Engel, and Mrs. Edwin Kind, of New Holstein, Peter and Fred of New Holstein, William of Hanley, Saskatchewan, Canada, and Henry of Vancouver, British Columbia.
Funeral services will be held at the Erbe-Hoffmann Funeral home and at St. John's Evangelical and Reformed church, the Rev. A. G. Schmid officiating with burial in the New Holstein City Cemetery
Mrs. Bartels had been a member of the New Holstein Cemetery ladies' Aid, which organization attended the funeral in a body. She was also a member of St. John's Evangelical and Reformed Church.
