Funeral Rites Held Tuesday for Mrs. Evelyn Dewhirst

Funeral services for Evelyn Dehirst, 34, of Oconto were held at the E.U.B. church in Callaway on Tuesday, December 11, at 2 p.m. with the Rev. Keith Griffith and the Rev. John F. Wichelt of Kearney officiating.

Music was provided by Mrs. Marion Cantrell, Mrs. Charles Myers, with Mrs. Ralph Morrison, organist.
Pallbearers were Charles Devline, Cefus Whaley, A.E. Chandler, Charles Snyder, Ed Overgard and Harold Wilcox.

Evelyn Victoria Reese, daughter of Walter and Ella Lammers Reese, was born October 4, 1922, at Pleasanton. She passed away at the Community Hospital in Callaway December 9, 1956, at the age of 34 years, two months, and five days.

At the age of 14 she moved with her parents to Omaha. She was graduated from Benson High School and attended Omaha University and Methodist Hospital School of Nursing.

She was united in marriage to 1st Lt. Evan Redmon, U. S. Army on June 14, 1942, in California. To this union was born one daughter, Vickie. Lt. Redmon was killed in action on Leyte, December 15, 1944.

On September 26, 1948, she was united in marriage to Keith B. Dewhirst at Grand island, where they made their home until moving to Oconto in November, 1953.
Evelyn was a member of the St. Paul Methodist Church of Omaha.

She leaves to mourn her passing, her husband; her daughter, Vickie; her mother, Ella Reese of Omaha; sister Ardith Strickman of Kimball; a brother, Walter Reese, Jr., of Omaha; three nephews, other relatives and a host of friends.
