FUNERAL SERVICES FOR MRS. M. J. HOLBROOK SET
Funeral services for Mrs. Morton Holbrook, 70, well known resident of Whitesville, wife of M. J. Holbrook, Whitesville banker, died at the Owensboro-Daviess County hospital early Saturday morning, following a lingering illness. Mrs. Holbrook had been a patient in the local hospital since August 26, 1947.
Funeral services for Mrs. Holbrook will be conducted at "2 o'clock Monday afternoon in the Whitesville Baptist church, the Rev. J. T. Miller, pastor, and the Rev. W. G. Potts officiating. Burial will be in Rose Hill cemetery, in Owensboro.
Pallbearers: Cecil L. Street, Jr., Don Weller, Edward J. Street, J. L. Carter, O. L. Compton and Freeman Lashbrook.
Mrs. Holbrook was a life-long member of the Baptist church and took an active part in church work, serving for many years as a teacher in its Sunday School classes.
Mrs. Holbrook is survived by her husband, four daughters, Mrs. J. H. Weller and Mrs. G. A. Weller, Jr., of Owensboro; Mrs. Cecil Street and Mrs. Bernard Barnett, two sons, John S. Holbrook, of Whitesville, and Morton Holbrook, Owensboro attorney. Her youngest son, Woodrow Holbrook, was killed in the Philippines in World War II. She is also survived by two sisters, Mrs. J. N. Mercer, Owensboro, Mrs. Nettie Mulligan, Owensboro, one brother, W. P. Simpson, of Owensboro, and twelve grandchildren.
