Mr. Seymour was born September 11, 1920, in the Allison Community near Lipan to Edward Seymour and Jewel Tolbert Seymour. He married Francis Rasberry, August 15, 1942, in Morgan Mill. He served in World War II with the 5th Cavalry Regiment, 1st Cavalry Division, stationed at Fort Bliss, and was one of the last mounted troops in the U.S. Army.
A lifelong rancher and cattleman, he worked as foreman for several ranches in the Lipan area. An innovator in the cattle industry, he started the first custom fitting and show cattle business in 1959. He showed cattle for numerous ranches throughout the nation and exhibited the cattle all across the U.S. In 1966, he was honored by the French government for his outstanding herdsmanship and for showing the outstanding bull of the year in the promotion of the Charolais breed of cattle.
In 1972, he founded and operated Seymour Construction and at its incorporation served as president until his death. In the mid-1970s and early 1980s he was involved with the oil and gas industry for mainly two different companies and finally helping to found Seyco Resources, Inc. In the early 1990s, he was elected to the Federal Land Bank board of directors in Stephenville.
